For very persistent hot spots or areas where your pet constantly licks, apply the solution, allow it to dry for a minute, and then gently cover the area with a lightweight, breathable bandage or an Elizabethan collar (cone) for a short period. This prevents them from immediately licking off the product and allows it to penetrate and begin working effectively.
