How does Bravecto Chews work:

After giving your dog Bravecto Chews, the medication quickly reaches tissue fluids under your dog's skin. When fleas and ticks feed on your dog, they ingest Bravecto and die. Not for human use. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. Keep the product in the original packaging until use, in order to prevent children from getting direct access to the product. Use with caution in dogs who have a history of seizures. Seizures have been reported in dogs following administration of fluralaner. Some dogs without a history of seizures have also experienced seizures following administration of fluralaner. The most common side effects of Bravecto are vomiting and diarrhea. Stomach upset, weakness, and lack of appetite, kidney and liver damage can also occur with this drug. If you notice anything different with the way your pet is behaving or if there are any other changes with your pet since giving this medication please contact your veterinarian or pharmacist for further help. What is Bravecto Chews used for:

Bravecto Chews kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis), and the treatment and control of tick infestations [Ixodes scapularis (black-legged tick (a.k.a. deer tick)), Dermacentor variabilis (American dog tick), and Rhipicephalus sanguineus (brown dog tick)] for 12 weeks in dogs and puppies 6 months of age and older, and weighing 4.4 pounds or greater. Bravecto Chews is also indicated for the treatment and control of Amblyomma americanum (lone star tick) infestations for 8 weeks in dogs and puppies 6 months of age and older, and weighing 4.4 pounds or greater.

Bravecto Chews can be used in adult dogs, and it's even safe for use in breeding, pregnant, and lactating dogs. For use in growing puppies, they should be 6 months of age or older and weigh at least 4.4 lbs.

How to administer Bravecto Chews for Dogs:

How do Sentinel Spectrum Chews work?

Milbemycin oxime, lufenuron, and praziquantel are the active ingredients in Sentinel Spectrum Chews, which work to control fleas, major intestinal worms, and heartworms. Sentinel Spectrum Chews contains an insect growth regulator (IGR), which kills flea eggs thus preventing them from hatching into adult fleas. Sentinel may be given along with Capstar, which treats flea infestation.

Cautions:

Not for use in humans. Keep this drug and all drugs out of the reach of children. Mild, transient hypersensitivity reactions, such as labored breathing, vomiting, hypersalivation, and lethargy, have been noted in some dogs treated with milbemycin oxime carrying a high number of circulating offspring (microfilariae). These reactions are presumably caused by the release of protein from dead or dying offspring. Do not use in puppies less than six weeks of age. Do not use in dogs or puppies weighing under two pounds. The safety of Sentinel Spectrum Chews has not been evaluated in dogs used for breeding or in lactating females.

What is the most important thing I should know about Sentinel Spectrum Chews?

Sentinel Spectrum Chews are indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis, for the prevention and control of flea populations, and for the treatment and control of adult roundworm, adult hookworm, adult whipworm, and adult tapeworm infections in dogs and puppies two pounds of body weight or greater and six weeks of age and older. The active ingredients are Milbemycin oxime, lufenuron, and praziquantel.

What should I discuss with my veterinarian before giving Sentinel Spectrum Chews to my pet?

Sentinel Spectrum Chews requires a prescription from your veterinarian. Ask your veterinarian if Sentinel Spectrum Chews is right for your pet. Treatment with fewer than 6 monthly doses after the last exposure to mosquitoes may not provide complete heartworm prevention. Prior to administration of Sentinel Spectrum Chews, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections. At the discretion of the veterinarian, infected dogs should be treated to remove adult heartworms. Sentinel Spectrum Chews is not effective against adult D. immitis.

How should Sentinel Spectrum Chews be given?

Sentinel Spectrum Chews should be administered orally, once every month, at the minimum dosage of 0.23 mg/lb (0.5 mg/kg) milbemycin oxime, 4.55 mg/lb (10 mg/kg) lufenuron, and 2.28 mg/lb (5 mg/kg) praziquantel. For heartworm prevention, give once monthly for at least 6 months after exposure to mosquitoes. To ensure adequate absorption, always administer Sentinel Spectrum Chews to dogs immediately after or in conjunction with a normal meal. Sentinel Spectrum Chews may be offered to the dog by hand or added to a small amount of dog food. The chewables should be administered in a manner that encourages the dog to chew, rather than to swallow without chewing. Chewables may be broken into pieces and fed to dogs that normally swallow treats whole. Care should be taken that the dog consumes the complete dose, and treated animals should be observed a few minutes after administration to ensure that no part of the dose is lost or rejected. If it is suspected that any of the dose has been lost, redosing is recommended.

What are the potential side effects of Sentinel Spectrum Chews?

The following adverse reactions have been reported in dogs after administration of milbemycin oxime, lufenuron, or praziquantel: vomiting, depression/lethargy, pruritus, urticaria, diarrhea, anorexia, skin congestion, ataxia, convulsions, salivation, and weakness.

What other drugs will affect Sentinel Spectrum Chews?

While Sentinel is safe to use in dogs at risk for MDRI-allele mutation (Australian Shepherds, Collies, Shelties, etc.), unless tested normal, caution is advised if your pet is also being given amiodarone (Cordarone), azole antifungals such as ketoconazole, carvedilol (Coreg), cyclosporine (Atopica), diltiazem (Cardizem), erythromycin (Ery-Tabs) or clarithromycin (Biaxin), quinidine, spironolactone (Aldactone), tamoxifen, and verapamil (Calan).

Storage:

Store in a dry place at controlled room temperature, between 59° and 77°F (15-25°C).
